Sharon’s Celebrating Life at 70 in my Smithsburg Studio through the Lens of Photography.
I'm absolutely thrilled to introduce you to the incredible Sharon Womack, who recently graced my Smithsburg Studio for an unforgettable 40 over 40 portrait session. Sharon's zest for life, love for learning, and determination to try new things are a true testament to the fact that age is just a number. Through her photography session, she aims to encourage others, especially women, to embrace their beauty and worth at any age. The awesome experiences leading up to the photo shoot, and the positive impact she's aiming to make on others through her story.
Embracing Life at 70
At 70 years young, she's living life to the fullest and inspiring us all to do the same. Sharon's vibrant spirit is contagious, and she's always ready to try new things. Recently, she became a great grandmother, marking a new chapter in her life, filled with endless learning and excitement. Sharon's enthusiasm knows no bounds, and she's even set on learning Spanish to welcome her new Hispanic neighbors. Plus, she's still working and actively modeling that age is never a barrier to living life to its fullest potential.
“I’m Sharon Womack, and I am 70 years old. I am learning a lot about life. Even at 70, I like to try new things, and I just had a great grandson month, so we're going to enter at a whole new stage of life I haven’t been in yet and learning about. We have new neighbors that are moving in that are Hispanic, so I thought maybe I'll learn Spanish. And I still keep working. I like to keep working and I like to model to people that even at 70 years old, you're still able to do a lot with your life. That’s where I'm at right now.” - Sharon Womack
Spreading Joy and Making a Difference
Sharon's dedication to making a positive impact is truly commendable. She works with the YMCA in a before-school program, staying in the loop with elementary school kids and keeping up with the ever-changing culture. But that's not all—Sharon's heart of gold extends to her work in teaching quadric arthritis classes in the pool. It's heartwarming to see her interacting with elderly folks, proving that age doesn't define our ability to contribute and make a difference. We're all inspired by her boundless energy and zest for life.
“I work for the schools. I’m in a before school program working through the YMCA. And that keeps me up to date with what’s going on with the elementary school age children. And they help me stay current with the culture and they are a lot of fun to be around. And I also teach quadric arthritis classes in the pool, and that lets me work with elderly people older than me. So that feels good too.” - Sharon Womack
Aspiring to Pen a Novel
Even after retirement, Sharon's creativity knows no bounds. She dreams of writing a novel that challenges the existing economic structure and advocates for a better life for all. This ambition reflects her unwavering desire to make a difference in the world. Isn't that just amazing?
“Even though I am retired, I can still do a lot, and I want to do a lot, want to try new things, and maybe even write a book. I’ve been trying to write for a number of years now and be a book that is a novel that will get everyone to throw away the economic structure as it exists so that we could all live a whole lot better. We’ll see whether that happens or not.” - Sharon Womack
Sharon's Encouraging Experience and A Renewed Sense of Joy
When I asked Sharon what intrigued her to participate for 40 over 40 photography session, she shared an enlightening story. "Well, I had one when I was 50," she began, recalling her previous experience with glamour photos. "At that age, you feel like you're in a bit of a slump, and you need something to really encourage you. The photo shoot turned out to be an incredibly fun experience for me, and I absolutely loved the pictures!" - Sharon Womack
Sharon's first photography session at 50 helped uplift her spirits and reignite her self-confidence. The positive feedback she received from friends and family further boosted her joy. So, when she stumbled upon our photography campaign on Facebook at the age of 70, she knew she had to do it again. With excitement bubbling in her heart, Sharon thought, "Wow, I'm 70, I'm going to do it again! And I was really looking forward to it. So, I'm glad that I went ahead and did it." She eagerly looked forward to the photo shoot, knowing it would be an extraordinary experience, just like the one she had before.
Empowering Others Through Positivity
"I encouraged a lot of other women to stop thinking about themselves as old people who think they don't look good anymore. I appreciated those people who were willing to help with makeup and hairstyle and help us dress so that we feel pretty, and we feel like we have a lot still to offer life, and life has a lot to offer to us.” – Sharon Womack
She encourages other women to toss away those thoughts of being "old" and embrace their beauty at any age. It's all about feeling pretty, confident, and full of life. We couldn't agree more! Sharon believes that no matter how many years we've lived, life has so much to offer, and every individual has something unique to bring to the table.
Embracing Life's Beautiful Moments
The magic of photography lies in capturing the essence of a person, freezing moments of joy and beauty forever. For Sharon, the photo shoot wasn't just about taking pictures; it was about embracing life's beautiful moments and creating lasting memories. As we witnessed Sharon radiate happiness during the session, we were reminded of the power of self-love and acceptance. Age truly is just a number, and every chapter of life brings new opportunities for joy, growth, and exploration.
