Chelsea Weiss 40 over 40 portrait experience
When Chelsea Weiss walked into my Smithburg photography studio for her 40-over-40 portrait session, I was excited to capture her infectious smile - it just lit up the whole room! She looks cute in her photos, and I love that. As soon as we got started with her photoshoot, it was clear that she was a natural in front of the camera although it was her first time.
I couldn't help but be impressed by how quickly she adapted to being in the spotlight. Her confidence grew with every shot we took, and it seemed like she had been doing this for years! It's not often you come across someone who can effortlessly strike pose after pose without any prior experience, but somehow, she managed to do just that. She exuded confidence and grace with every pose and expression, which made my job oh-so-easy!
During our session, I asked about her current phase of life and what she finds fulfilling. She responded by saying that she's become more comfortable with embracing her true self and desires, resulting in caring less about others' opinions. As a result, those who don't fit into her world are no longer a concern for her. She relishes this newfound freedom from tolerating things like she did when younger and looks forward to sharing this experience with the women in her life as they age together.
“I just care less about what people think because I find that I'm just coming more into my authentic self and who I am and knowing what I want. And if it doesn't fit for someone, then they’re not going to be in my world. So, there's just this I don't want to put up with things like I did when I was younger, and I really enjoy that, and I look forward to seeing that more with the women that are in my life because we're all growing old together.”
In addition, Chelsea sounded excited as she shared her thoughts on why she decided to participate in the 40 over 40 portrait session. She explained that it was refreshing to see something that wasn't focused on being young and cute or tiktoky. As someone who is not in their twenties anymore, Chelsea found it very comforting to have an opportunity geared towards her age group. She mentioned how nice it felt to finally come across something that was targeted more towards where she personally is at this stage of life, and how much she appreciated the change of pace from everything always being about young and spunky people. Overall, Chelsea's enthusiasm for the portrait session shone through as she shared her positive experience with those around her!
“It was really nice to see something that wasn’t about being young and cute and tiktoky. It was just nice. It was like, okay, here’s something targeted towards my age. So that was refreshing, as opposed to everything being about young and spunky and well, I'm spunky, but just targeted more towards where I am.”
Chelsea told me what she had in mind for her photos when I asked. "Well, it's really to have a good collection of artist photos, and I wanted to capture me now before I get old. When I look back when I was a teenager, I looked at pictures and thought, wow. I did not appreciate how I looked or what was going on, but I thought I was really cute. "I just wanted to capture a part of my life."
Chelsea Weiss is an incredible woman who founded and owns Art Collective, a small business that supports local artists in the most amazing way. Whether they're established or emerging, she provides them with a platform to create, showcase and sell their work. I mean, how awesome is that?!
What's even cooler is that Chelsea has a background in graphic design and has explored many different art media throughout her career. Nowadays, she primarily works as a mixed media artist under the name Chelsea Sparks - which pays homage to those sparks of creativity we all feel when inspiration strikes!
