The experience of having Catherine Mauldin in my photography studio in Smithsburg was a complete joy. Working with her brought back fond memories of when we were kids playing in her basement with her sister Karly setting up sheet backdrops and putting on our own fashion photo studio. Those times playing and seeing the photography art of her Aunt “Krafty” sparked my interest in photography. Seeing her after all these years brought back so many wonderful memories of our childhood together. Now, she was ready to take part in something truly special - 40 over 40 portrait sessions! “I feel like I'm 20, but with a ton more wisdom than I was at 20. And not that I don't care what people think of me, but it's also just kind of embracing who I am and being more comfortable with that. And not that I had to fake confidence before, but maybe I did. Now I just kind of look at others as, like, they’re all kind of going through their struggles, and everybody kind of feels not as confident all the time. So, for me, being at this age, I've really been able to step out of myself and kind of see everybody as individuals, and everybody's going through struggles, and with that, there's comfort and going through life in general, knowing that we're all kind of going through something at any point in time.”

“When I saw the campaign, I was very interested in getting involved, because I think at this point in my life, I feel like a lot of women kind of step out of the limelight, and they almost forget about themselves. They put everybody else ahead of them. But I think this is, like, the best form of self-care, to feel good about yourself and celebrate being 45. When you look at all the women in TV movies, they're usually younger. There are not as many older women part, strong older women parts. So, I just see it more often now that we’re celebrating who we are at any point in life.”
